Update From The Ellsworth School Dept. 3/13/20

Dear Parents and Guardians of Ellsworth School Department Students:
I am sending this communication to provide an update on the evolving COVID-19 situation and the
Ellsworth School Department’s continued monitoring and actions taken consistent with guidance from
our partner agencies. As of noon today, the Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) has
reported three presumptive cases of COVID-19 in the State of Maine. Ellsworth School Department
continues to monitor the issue as it develops and will continue to follow the guidance of the CDC, Maine
State Government, and the Maine Department of Education.

In her address to the State yesterday afternoon, Governor Janet Mills informed viewers and listeners of a
number of preventative and responsive actions taken in response to the COVID-19 situation and made a
number of recommendations, some of which pertained to our schools. In her address, she indicated she
is not, at this time, recommending that schools be closed. To that end, we will continue to focus on the
school-based preventative measures outlined in my March 3, 2020 communication and reiterate our
